James has over 30 years’ experience in the strategy, delivery and operation of mega events and venues, including the Olympic Games, World Expos, FIFA World Cups, Commonwealth Games and major sports stadia.
As Co-Founder and CEO of Trivandi, James advises governments, boards and funding institutions on the strategic planning, delivery, financing, operation and legacy of major projects.
As Director of Venues, Infrastructure and Olympic Park for the London 2012 Organising Committee (LOCOG), James led the planning delivery and operation of more than 120 venues and sites required for the Games, and oversaw the long-term legacy plans. He recruited and led the venue operations teams and had overall responsibility for the operation of the London Olympic Park.
Since London 2012, James has advised every summer Olympic Games, was seconded as CEO of the Organising Committee for the Ashgabat 2017 Asian Indoor and Martial Arts Games in Turkmenistan, and provided strategic leadership for the operation of COP28 in UAE.
James was awarded the Olympic Order by the IOC for his contribution to the London Games, and was awarded an OBE in the Queen’s New Year’s Honours List for services to the Olympic and Paralympic Games.
